I need a programmer to help me convert an existing successful application from a pc based program to a web based program.I wrote Dance Studio Manager in MSAccess 12 years ago for a friend who needed help managing a dance studio.Subsequently I purchased Microsoft’s Office Developer Suite and created a generic version and began marketing it on the web.Other than a web page and one post card mailing I have invested nothing in marketing.Nevertheless I have sold over 200 copies of the program at $425 per copy including customers in Australia, Great Britain, Canada and Hong Cong..
There are over 14,000 dance studios in North America and ten to twenty percent of them turn over every year.Every one of them, small and large needs software to manage their studios.Typical challenges are keeping track of students, which classes they are registered for, calculating their tuition, global posting of charges, interfacing with credit card merchant accounts, etc.The most complicated challenge is scheduling recitals. My application allows each routine to be in more than one show and can include more than one class. In a studio with 500 plus students, avoiding scheduling students in back to back routines (a no-no because costume changes are required) would be nearly impossible without software. Also ordering costumes and accessories correctly sized requires software. My application will even print tickets for recitals with seat assignments and the students name on the ticket. And of course management reports and detailed studio statistics are part of the program.
There are currently four web based programs for managing the business side of a dance studio that I know of.None of them are as user friendly and versatile as my application. The typical user is a minimum wage secretary with high turnover.I send a streaming video instruction manual with each copy to help studios train their secretaries.Instead of a one time charge for the program, a web based application will create a stream of revenue and will be easy to maintain.Sales should increase because a modest monthly fee is easier on a dance studio which is a seasonal small business.
I am seeking an experienced programmer who will partner with me. I will specify the design and features of the application based on the existing program and do all of the marketing. The programmer will write and maintain the application. We will share the tech support duties which in my experience is one call every other month. Most are password problems with the caps lock on.I propose that we form an LLC and split the revenue stream 50-50.
If you are not interested, I would appreciate it if you would forward this to any other programmers who may be interested.
